About me

I’m an independent journalist covering science, nature, and the environment.

I was a 2023 AAAS Mass Media Science & Engineering Fellow at Science News. I’m also an organizer for ComSciCon-SciWri, a science writing workshop for graduate students in STEM fields.

In a previous life, I earned a PhD in chemistry from Caltech. For my doctoral research, I studied chemical reactions that use or make electricity. Check out my academic work here.

When I’m not writing, you can find me running, hiking, reading science fiction, or playing tabletop games with friends.
